Haley Stiles (2025)
Haley Stiles is a doctoral candidate in Government at the University of Virginia. Her research asks questions about partisanship, civic engagement, and community, examining citizens' day-to-day experiences within American democracy.
Her dissertation explores the bases for both past and current citizen evaluations of the governing system in the United States. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach including historic examination, large-n quantitative analysis, original survey work, and field interviews, she investigates which factors may positively impact Americans' interactions with democracy at the individual level.
Haley graduated summa cum laude from Baylor University in 2021 with a BA in Political Science, and received her MA in Government from the University of Virginia in 2024. In addition to scholarship, she has served as an intern in the US Senate and a vote reporter for local elections.
