2024 Gold Medal guests at the pre-dinner cocktail reception
On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Members, Trustees, former Honorees, Advisory Council members, and guests gathered to induct the latest Gold Medal Honorees into the roster of distinguished individuals who have been acknowledged for their contributions to society and humanity. This year Ken Burns, David Remnick, and Bryan Stevenson were honored in a lavish ceremony and dinner at the Metropolitan Club in Manhattan, New York City.
Attendees enjoyed a lively cocktail reception and elaborate sit-down dinner before the main attraction, which was a panel conversation among the Honorees conducted by President Fred Larsen. As in past years, guests were entertained and enlightened by the discussion, as Honorees recounted their life experiences, passions, and values to the captivated crowd.
The evening began with a performance of “O Holy Night” and “The Christmas Song” by Grammy award-winning soprano Angel Blue. The evening also recognized former Trustee and Chair of the Grants Committee Jonathan Piel with a Silver Honor Medal for his substantial contributions to the National Institute itself. 2024’s seven Dissertation Grant winners were also noted.
A full visual record of the evening can be found at the New York Social Diary here. Video recordings of the event will be posted on the National Institute website in the near future.
It’s not too early to save the date for the 111th Annual Gold Medal Gala, which is already scheduled for Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
