How can the United States puncture the partisan gridlock that has hampered government, stymied necessary compromise, and contaminated civil discourse? How can we move beyond the partisan divides that have come to dominate our political and civic landscape?
On Thursday, June 20, the Hon. Glenn C. Nye III, the president and CEO of the Center for the Study of the Presidency & Congress in Washington, D.C., will discuss “Breaking the Gridlock: Reforming Our Broken Political System” at the annual luncheon of the National Institute of Social Sciences. The luncheon will be held at the Princeton Club, 15 West 43rd Street in Manhattan, beginning at noon.
The Center for the Study of the Presidency & Congress is a nonpartisan think tank that educates future public policy leaders and serves as an honest broker among the White House, Congress and the private sector. Mr. Nye has long championed structural reforms to enhance the effectiveness of government and civility among citizens.

Prior to joining the CSPC, Mr. Nye served in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Virginia’s Second Congressional District from 2009-2011. He served on the Armed Services, Veterans, and Small Business Committees and ranked among the top-10 most independent voting members.
He will be joined at the lunch by Joshua Graham Lynn, co-founder of Represent.Us, a movement of independents, progressives, and conservatives that pursues federal reform through action in the states. Represent.Us seeks to pass powerful anti-corruption laws that stop political bribery, end secret money, and fix our broken elections.
The National Institute of Social Sciences has hosted discussion luncheons on in New York since 1990. Recent luncheon speakers have included Kent Barwick, Nicholas Christakis, Philippe de Montebello, and William J. vandal Heuvel.
