President Fred Larsen with 2025 Gold Medal Honorees Claudia Goldin, Alison Gopnik, and Christopher Eisgruber
On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Members, Trustees, Advisory Council members, and guests gathered to induct the latest Gold Medal Honorees into the roster of distinguished individuals who have been acknowledged for their contributions to society and humanity. This year Christopher Eisgruber, Claudia Goldin, and Alison Gopnik were honored in a lavish ceremony and dinner at the Metropolitan Club in Manhattan, New York City.
Attendees enjoyed a lively cocktail reception and elaborate sit-down dinner before the main attraction, which was a panel conversation among the Honorees conducted by President Fred Larsen. As in past years, guests were entertained and enlightened by the discussion, as Honorees recounted their life experiences, passions, and values to the captivated crowd.
The evening began with a performance of “Some Enchanted Evening” sung by Win Rutherfurd, and “God Bless America” sung by Angela Cason, Win Rutherfurd, Beatrice Broadwater and Richard Miller. The evening also recognized the National Institute’s six Dissertation Grant winners for 2025.
A full visual record of the evening can be found at the New York Social Diary here. Video recordings of the event will be posted on the National Institute website in the near future.
It’s not too early to save the date for the 112th Annual Gold Medal Gala, which is already scheduled for Tuesday, December 8, 2026 at the Metropolitan Club in New York City.
